December 2007

Yuck, well, it's definately winter now. We're starting to feel the effects of the awful summer as we rapidly run out of some of the crops, onions in particular, but a lot of the brassicas are still going strong, Kale especially which is sadly one of the crops that a lot of people opt out of.

In between harvesting we're attempting to tidy the place up a bit as we're not out every day tackling weeds and planting madly. Hedges need cutting back, manure needs spreading, and our fruit trees and bushes need a bit of attention. We're hoping to finish planting some more hedging between some of the fields over on Kenn Moor as well this year, the ones planted five years ago had got so big they needed their first cut in order to help them fill out a bit rather than grow tall and spindly.

No photos yet, it's nasty out there and I've not taken my camera out with me for a while.
